Ann Wiener joined NYC Leadership Academy in 2005 after a 30-year career in the New York City public school system, the last 15 years as founding principal of Crossroads School, a public Manhattan middle school.
Ann co-founded the District 3 Urban Teaching Fellows Program, received various grants including ones from the Diamond Foundation, Chase Bank, the Fund for New York City Education, the New York Foundation for the Arts, and NCREST. She served on the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards.
Ann Wiener received her BA from Smith College, her MA from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and her supervisory license from the Aspiring Leaders Program at Baruch’s School of Social Work. She has done advanced work with Schools Attuned, Bard College’s Writing Program, the Prospect Summer Institute, CAST (the Center for Applied Technology) and the Harvard Principals Institute.
She has recently travelled to Bhutan, Ethiopia, Iran, and Cambodia and loves to bike and volunteer as an usher in Off Broadway theatres.
