When Gloria, who is a product of the public schools in New York City, became a teacher, her goal was to be the best kindergarten teacher imaginable. She is now a coach/facilitator at NYC Leadership Academy.
During her thirty-seven years with the New York City Department of Education she served as a teacher, staff developer, assistant principal, principal and Superintendent. Gloria retired from the Department of Education on September 6, 2006 and joined the Leadership Academy staff on September 6, 2006.
Gloria holds a BS in Sociology an MS in Early Childhood Education from Hunter College, and an MS in Teaching Reading and an Advanced Certificate in School Administration from City College of New York. Among the honors she has received are: Friend of Education Award from the Association of Assistant Principals of New York City and Title I Distinguished Educator Award.
The words, “Education is the great equalizer” have guided Gloria throughout her career.
