Mark Levine
Coach/Facilitator

Mark joined NYC Leadership Academy as a coach/facilitator in 2007. Prior to this, Mark worked in the NYC school system for 35 years, with much of his experience being in Special Education, including a role as the Supervisor of Special Education. Mark served as a Principal at PS 24 in District 10 for 9 years, and during his tenure there, PS 24 received several awards, including being named as Collaborative Community of Practice by the NYCDOE. In addition to currently coaching new and experienced principals in NYC, Mark works on a range of national projects and has helped to develop NYC Leadership Academy online coaching modules. He reflects on how national consultancy work has helped him improve his own practice as a coach in NYC: “Doing our national work has broadened my knowledge and understanding of coaching. More specifically, it has helped me to differentiate my coaching more effectively and to recognize – and do something about – my default coaching behaviors. Working with colleagues from all over the country has also helped me gain insight from those who coach in different contexts.”

Mark holds a Professional Diploma from the City College of New York (CUNY), an MS from Lehman College (CUNY), and a BA from the University at Stony Brook. He has presented at several conferences on various educational issues.
