Mark has been a coach for NYC Leadership Academy for six years now. He has worked with and provided leadership support to principals of very diverse schools throughout the five boroughs, since 2006. He came to coaching after a long and productive career as an educator in New York City public schools. After teaching elementary level students from 1970 through 1988, Mark became a grade leader, assistant principal and then principal in 2002 of a Bronx elementary school that was one of the largest elementary schools in all of New York, with a population of over 1700 students. One of the highlights of his work there was the creation and nurturing of a chess program that produced teams that competed in tournaments throughout the country and achieved national recognition.
Mark holds a BA in psychology from Hunter College in the Bronx and an MA in Administration and Supervision from St. Peter’s University in New Jersey. In 2005 he received a certificate of completion after attending a Principal’s Institute at Harvard University.
