Norman Wechsler

Norman Wechsler
Coach/Facilitator

When Wechsler emerged from Brooklyn College at the end of the 60’s, his struggle for social justice led him into teaching in middle school in the South Bronx. But the compelling trauma manifested by so many of his students propelled him into a Master’s program in Counseling. His years as teacher, counselor, AP of Guidance, Supervisor of Guidance, running the Attendance Improvement/Dropout Prevention program for the NYC High Schools, award-winning principal of DeWitt Clinton HS, and Superintendent of Bronx High Schools- where he transformed failing high schools into new small schools of excellence- give him unique insights into the needs of new principals, and the schools they serve. With a Doctorate in Educational Administration from Teachers College, Columbia University, Dr. Wechsler’s special expertise and experience in data-driven decision making is of inestimable value to the many constituencies served by NYC Leadership Academy, where he continues his eighth highly successful year coaching new principals.
