Steve Buchsbaum joined NYC Leadership Academy as Coach/Facilitator Leadership Academy in 2007. Steve retired in 2003 as Principal of Middle School 44, Manhattan, after a 30 year career in the New York City public school system. As Principal, he worked to develop and strengthen programs that expanded opportunities and met the needs of a changing population. Additionally, he served as the first Director of Instructional Computer Systems for Community School District Six, and was the Director of the Manhattan Technical Assistance Center. Prior to joining NYC Leadership Academy, Steve was a Mathematics consultant with The Princeton Review, and supported both instruction and data analysis for schools throughout what was then Region Two.
Steve received his Masters Degree in Mathematics Education, as well as his Supervisory and Administrative Certification from the City College of New York. In addition to coaching, Steve has done extensive work in both designing and facilitating workshops for principals, as well as Department of Education staff.
