Since 2003, NYC Leadership Academy has worked with more than 1200 New York City public school principals through a variety of innovative, comprehensive leadership development and support programs. Our coaching programs for new and experienced principals are deeply connected to your day-to-day work as a school leader and designed to help you create and sustain school improvement that maximizes student learning. This past school year, more than 375 new and experienced New York City principals chose to participate in our coaching programs.

Our coaches are recently retired principals and superintendents who are current with NYCDOE accountability tools, leadership competencies and other reform initiatives and trained in our unique Facilitative, Competency-Based (FCB) Coaching methodology. As a confidential thought partner, your coach creates a trusting, collaborative environment, enabling you to engage in critical and targeted reflection on your practice as an instructional leader. Our coaches know and understand the NYCDOE, its latest initiatives and regulations, budgetary and organizational matters, and when and where to get help. All Leadership Academy coaching is aligned to NYC School Leadership Competencies.

The hallmarks of Leadership Academy coaching are flexibility and responsiveness. Your day-to-day work provides the context and you select the service plan that meets your needs. Your coach schedules sessions and activities based on your calendar and priorities, delivering the majority of coaching services in school settings.
