NYC Leadership Academy offers the Leadership Performance Planning Worksheet, a critical anchor for principal coaching and support programs. Developed by the NYC Leadership Academy in consultation with The Wallace Foundation and representatives of the state education departments of Delaware, Missouri and Kentucky, the worksheet is used in a growing number of states and school districts across the country to support and promote principal growth. It is the result of a thorough review and synthesis of principal leadership protocols used nationally.
The theory behind the worksheet is that focused work on a set of clearly defined school leadership competencies will help principals promote student success. It contains 40 core leadership behaviors - organized into nine essential school leadership dimensions – that a principal must master to improve learning and instruction within the context of the school's vision, mission and goals. Each behavior was selected for its ability to address the scope of the critical job demands that principals face and respond to a wide variety of performance standards for principals.
The NYC Leadership Academy trains school districts, state education departments and others on how to use and customize the Leadership Worksheet to address their own unique educational context and specific needs.
