College Graduations and Special Recognition


Eric Buchsbaum (son of Steve Buchsbaum, Coach) received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering, with a major in Industrial Operations Engineering, from the University of Michigan. 



Emma Carlisle Moore (daughter of Jana Carlisle, Chief Strategy Officer) graduated from Brown University on May 26th. She was an International Relations Concentrator, Latin America regional focus, security and society track. Emma possesses Spanish language fluency and interned at UNICEF, two places in Barcelona, and at the Naval War College -- Center on Irregular Warfare and Armed Groups -- in Newport, RI.  She spent a college semester in Cuba.  She is working with a Brown IR professor this summer as a Research Intern/Post Doctoral Fellow with the Watson Institute for International Affairs helping to engage students at Brown University with civilian-military affairs.  She is pursuing full time work that will combine her interests in Latin American, intelligence, and the military.



Jessica Waterman (daughter of Juanita Lewis, Special Assistant to the President & CEO) received her Associate of Science in Baking & Pastry from Johnson & Wales University. Jessica has known she wanted to be a pastry chef since 2nd grade!  In addition to attending her dream college, Jessica also attended her high school of choice, Food & Finance (NYC).  Jessica looks forward to getting started in her career and is actively exploring employment opportunities outside of New York.  Jessica has volunteered at NYCLA events over the past four years.



Whitney Alexander (daughter of Juanita Lewis, Special Assistant to the President & CEO) recently placed third at the International Make-Up Artist Trade Show (IMATS). Whitney’s third place finish (behind the Czech Republic and Seoul, Korea), was the only American win in a field of eight in the Beauty and Fashion segment of the international IMATS competition in Vancouver, BC, and signals her advancement to another level of her craft.  A recent graduate of the Makeup Forever Academy in New York City, Whitney also holds a BA from SUNY Old Westbury, and is building her independent Makeup Artistry business under the name Can’t Stop My Pretty!

  High School Graduations


Isabelle Carlisle Moore (daughter of Jana Carlisle, Chief Strategy Officer) graduated from the Holy Names Academy. She is heading to Oberlin College in late August. Isabelle kept very busy with a variety of extracurricular activities: she participated on her high school’s theater sports team, sang in the school’s concert choir, sang in the school’s advanced vocal ensemble, acted in numerous plays and musicals at a local regional theater, practiced aikido (and is one level away from her black belt), played the harp, and at her school’s spring concert conducted the orchestra for the first time. She says she wants to study environmental science, policy, or English (along with theater, music, etc.) at Oberlin.  


Hannah Waterman (daughter of Juanita Lewis, Special Assistant to the President & CEO) graduated from Pace High School. Hannah will begin her freshman year at York College of PA in the fall, and plans to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education.  In addition to volunteering in the NYCLA library, Hannah has been a soloist at our annual graduation ceremony for the last four years!

Fiona Doughty (daughter of Mary Jo Dunnington, Senior Vice President of Client Engagement) graduated Kindergarten at Southwest Elementary School in Durham, North Carolina. Fiona participated in a English-Spanish dual language program and is saying "Adios Kindergarten!"
