By focusing on in-depth data analysis, theories of organizational change and the development of a deep understanding of how to accelerate learning for students and adults, NYC Leadership Academy programs enable participants to strengthen their abilities to transform schools. NYC Leadership Academy programs are:

  • Aligned to the NYC Leadership Academy Performance Standards Matrix – The Matrix serves as a guide for curriculum design and leadership development for aspiring and current principals;
  • Aligned with the New York City Department of Education Priorities – Working closely with the NYCDOE, the Leadership Academy aligns all programs to the system priorities to better prepare and support the aspiring and early-career principals who will implement the system reforms at the school-level;
  • Based in Problem-based and Action Learning – Leadership Academy programs enable aspiring and early career principals to acquire new skills and knowledge through authentic work and job-embedded learning experiences;
  • Differentiated – The Leadership Academy differentiates curricular content and instructional approaches to address a range of learning needs and styles. Leadership Academy coaches also differentiate the support they provide to the individual principals they coach to ensure that participants receive necessary support to advance their practice; and
  • Assessed through and informed by participant feedback – The Leadership Academy regularly collects comprehensive feedback to inform program structure and curriculum design.

The Leadership Academy’s staff designs and delivers the organization’s core programs for aspiring and current principals.
