All NYC Leadership Academy coaches use our unique, facilitative, competency-based coaching model. In this model, the coach and principal collectively identify a set of school leadership competencies (skills, knowledge and behaviors) that will be the focus of their work. The coach creates a trusting, collaborative environment that enables the principal to engage in critical and targeted reflection on her/his practice as it relates to the competencies with the goal of facilitating the paradigm or behavioral shifts necessary for the principal to develop her/his leadership capacity. The majority of coaching takes place at the principal's school and often follows an observation of the principal's leadership practice.
My coach has been very supportive. She constantly questions me and pushes my thinking, which I appreciate and need.
