New York City public schools continue to need exceptional and motivated instructional leaders focused on student learning and achievement. As school leaders, principals are the key to a school’s overall performance and must serve as the catalyst for achieving the kind of fundamental change many schools require. The NYC Leadership Academy’s Aspiring Principals Program (APP) is helping the NYC Department of Education develop new school leaders who are deeply committed to closing the achievement gap and to developing creative solutions to the most challenging school problems. Today, in schools throughout the city, APP graduates are realizing their visions for achieving educational excellence. The Leadership Academy 2008-2009 APP class is currently in session. Applications are available for the 2010-2011 cohort.
