Coaching is about sustainable behavior changes and paradigm shifts on the part of individuals, schools, and ultimately, school systems. Coaching is about preparing all children, especially the traditionally underserved, for success by building a leader’s capacity to confront and dismantle school-based inequities and create the conditions necessary for all students to thrive. This tool helps districts and states ensure the systemic sustainability of this essential practice by guiding the user through an evidence-based review of program sustainability in four key areas: program operation, program financial resources, mentor / coach cadre management, and program evaluation. The PSAAP was developed by the NYC Leadership Academy with the generous support of The Wallace Foundation and with the participation of educators from six school districts (Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, Denver Public Schools, Gwinnett County Public Schools, Hillsborough County Public Schools, New York City Department of Education, and Prince Georges County Public Schools).
