To ensure leaders get the skills and knowledge they need to push their own practice and that of their teams, the NYC Leadership Academy designs and facilitates professional learning that is active and immediately relevant, and that provides participants with opportunities to practice and reflect on leadership competencies.
Because of the proven impact of job-embedded learning, we, when possible, craft learning experiences to be specific to leaders’ own schools and school systems – they examine their own data, look at student experience, and identify and discuss real problems of practice. We infuse this work with a focus on helping leaders develop both personal awareness and skills needed to understand, identify, and dismantle inequities in schools.
We partner with school systems to co-design professional development opportunities that fit your context. We do this by using a backward mapping approach that draws on our research-based leadership development standards, curricula and materials.
